Thai entrepreneurs are invited to participate and exhibit their innovations and new product designs for vehicles, auto parts, spare parts and accessories. This year's theme is "Automotive Technology Innovations for a Sustainable Environment." The application deadline is Nov. 30th, 2011.

Mrs. Nantawan Sakuntanak, Director-General of the Department of Export Promotion, said the Thailand Auto Parts & Accessories 2012, or TAPA 2012, is organized by the "Department of Export Promotion" together with the "Thai Auto-Parts Manufacturers Association." Visitors in the trade will arrive from many countries throughout the world to participate in the fair - this is a wonderful opportunity for exhibitors to reinforce Thailand's position as the emerging automotive manufacturing hub in this region. The fair will also provide great opportunities for trade negotiations, public relations and for launching innovative technological products and new services to prospective buyers. It will also be a time to catch up with automotive industry trends.

"TAPA 2012 will be held from April 26-29, 2012, covering an area of 15,000 sq. m. at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center (BITEC), Bangna, Bangkok, Thailand. This year's concept will be 'Automotive Technology Innovations for a Sustainable Environment.' 'Green' innovations and new products will be presented which have been designed to reduce pollution and global warming. These products will also save energy and be environmentally friendly. Leading Thai and foreign companies will all be there. The fair is expected to attract manufacturers, importers, distributors, retailers and purchasing agents in the automotive industry, as well as more than 16,000 visitors from Thailand and overseas," Nantawan said.

TAPA 2012 is now accepting applications from manufacturers, exporters, selling agents, suppliers and sub-contractors of OEM/REM parts. KPVI News 6 has two ways people in area can show their gratitude.

First, find our booth this year at the Eastern Idaho State Fair. We will have a camera set up so anyone can record a short message of gratitude. We will compile the messages and pass them along to the 116th Cavalary Brigade. There is no cost to record a message. There will also be a chance for your to sponsor a Welcome Home Packet for each soldier. The cost to sponsor a packet is $5. If you can only give $1, we will take it. The money raised at the fair will be split between the Military Affairs Committees of the Pocatello and Idaho Falls Chambers of Commerce. The committees will use that money to support military families in the area.

The second way we are showing gratitude to our returning soldiers is through a Welcome Home Packet that will go to each soldier. This is where area businesses can help out. KPVI News 6 and chambers of commerce all around eastern Idaho are collecting any kind of coupon or offer a business can give. Whether that's a 10% discount on a service or a free night in a hotel. The more offers we have, the bigger impact it will have. In total 463 soldiers are coming home. That makes 239 in the Upper Valley and 214 in the Lower Valley. We will take donations for all of the troops or for Upper and Lower Valley troops.

If you would like to participate please immediately email Todd Blackinton at tblackinton@kpvi.com. We will then need your coupon or gift certificate submitted to Mike McLendon, ESGR, 208-243-1045 or Jennifer Bowen, Greater Pocatello Chamber of Commerce, 208-681-3132 no later than August 31st. This will give us time to assemble the packets and have them ready for the returning troops.

Source http://www.kpvi.com/content/news/local/story/Welcome-Home-116th/4Wslg70XrUin_72dqWELhA.cspx

Google to target 40,000 local business reviews in Charlotte

Google plans to target some 40,000 small businesses in Charlotte in the next phase of the search engine's expansion into the advertising-rich field of local business reviews - a move that has sparked tension with local review sites like Yelp.com.

Google officials announced today that they are making the Queen City the fifth in the nation where they'll roll out a beefed-up marketing campaign for their new Google Hotpot service. Hotpot, which is a new part of Google Places, allows customers to leave reviews and recommendations of local businesses, similar to what services like Yelp have been doing for years.

Google officials in recent days have mailed promotional materials to thousands of Charlotte businesses, urging them to log onto the service and put in basic information Google-searching potential customers might want to know about their goods and services.

That's free, but companies can also buy advertising to further tout themselves. On the consumer end, Google searchers who create a Hotpot account and begin rating and reviewing local businesses will get search results increasingly personalized depending on the types of businesses and services they tell Google they like and dislike.

The Hotpot reviews will show up on a business' Google Places page, as well as on Google Maps.

The service is also available through smartphone apps, allowing customers to rate and review in real time. Highly rated businesses get a "recommended on Google" sticker to go in their windows.

Google's already launched marketing campaigns in Las Vegas, Portland, Austin, Texas and Madison, Wisc. Jeff Aguero, a marketing manager for Google, said the company chose Charlotte because of its tech-savvy population, large small business community and the level of interest in existing Google products shown by the area.

"Charlotte was one of the areas that not only fit a great profile of younger (people) who were looking forward to taking on new technology, but it also had a great base for us to start from," he said.

Search engine advertising revenues have soared as people searching for goods and services increasingly turn to the internet rather than the Yellow Pages or other traditional media.

Online advertising revenues topped $12 billion for the first half of 2010 alone, according to the Interactive Advertising Bureau, a research group comprised of more than 460 leading media and technology firms. Advertising via search engines accounted for nearly half of the total.

Yelp, which has for years been getting its "Yelpers" to write detailed reviews of local businesses to help guide other consumers, has voiced irritation with Google's new service. Yelp reviews show up on Google Places pages, but Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelman has said he doesn't like the way Google is using Yelp's information and that he considers Google directly competitive.

Asked about such tensions, Aguero said Google values its relationships with its partners. He added: "The primary goal is to give as much information as possible to our users."

Corey Creed, a Charlotte-based search engine marketing consultant, said there's so much money to be made in local online advertising that large companies like Google are determined to find their way into local markets, even if it means tensions with other online firms.

"Nobody wants to use the Yellow Pages, they want to go online" to find things, said Creed, head of Hippo Internet Marketing.
